Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring herein) that the two houses will meet in the Hall of the House of Representatives on tuesday the 28th Inst at 7 o,clock P.M and proceed to the election of a Treasurer of the Board of Canal Commissioners2

1Abraham Lincoln wrote the text of this resolution. The docketing on page two is in another hand.
On January 27, 1840, Abraham Lincoln introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives, and the House adopted it the same day. The Senate took no action on this resolution, but on January 31, adopted a resolution calling for a joint vote on February 1. The House concurred with the Senate resolution on February 1.
