A BILL
For the relief of Calvin Emmons.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre- sentatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the letters patent granted to Calvin Em- mons, a citizen of the United States, on the twenty-seventh day of July, in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine, for his improvement, in the threshing machine, be, and the same are hereby, renewed and extended for the term of fourteen years from and after the passage of this act; and the Commissioner of Patents is hereby di- rected, on the surrender to him of the said letters patent, to grant to the said Calvin Emmons a new patent, with an amended specification, for the same invention, and also for |

such improvements as the said Emmons may have made on said machine subsequent to the date of his said original patent: Provided, That such renewal and extension shall enure to the use and benefit of the said Calvin Emmons, his executors and administrators, and to no other persons whomsoever, except that a bona fide assignee of the in- vention patented, or a bona fide assignee of the patent right, by virtue of any assignment from the patentee here- tofore made, as also, all persons, their heirs, executors or administrators, who shall, after the expiration and before the renewal of said patent, have, bona fide, put in use the invention secured by said patent, shall have the benefit of this act, upon just, reasonable, and equitable terms, accord- ing to his or their interest therein ; and if said Calvin Em- mons, his executors or administrators, cannot agree with such assignee or other persons herein designated, the terms shall be ascertained and determined by the circuit court of the United States for the district in which such assignee or other persons resides, to be decreed upon a bill to be filed by such assignee or other person for that purpose: And provided further, That no assignee or other person shall have the benefit of this act unless he or they shall, within ninety days from the date of its passage, agree with the said Calvin Emmons, his executors or administrators, as to the consideration upon which he or they are to have it, or file |

a bill in the circuit court aforesaid, in order that the amount to be paid therefor, and the terms of such payment, may be decreed, in conformity with the intent and meaning of this act. |
