A BILL
Authorizing certain promotions in the naval service.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre- sentatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President of the United States be, and he is hereby, authorized to nominate to the Senate, for pro- motion to the rank of captain in the naval service, such number of commanders as will make the number of post captains equal to the present number of commanders, and to nominate a similar number of lieutenants for promotion to the rank of commander, and to nominate a similar num- ber of passed midshipmen for promotion to the rank of lieutenant—any law to the contrary notwithstanding. |
