For the relief of the legal representatives of Benjamin Hodges, deceased.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That there be paid to the legal representatives
of Benjamin Hodges, deceased, late of Prince George’s
county, in the State of Maryland, the sum of two hundred
and eighty dollars, out of the fund (if so much there be un-
applied)^)^ allotted by the British Government, under the
first article of the treaty of Ghent, (that sum being the es-
timated average value of slaves established by the Board
of Commissioners which sat under the said convention,) as
compensation for a slave who was conveyed from the
United States on board the British fleet, in the year eigh-
teen hundred and fourteen, and not recovered by the said
Hodges or his legal representatives.
