In explanation of an act, entitled “An act to appropriate the proceeds of the public lands, and to grant pre-emption rights.”

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That the fifth section of the act, entitled “An
act to appropriate the proceeds of the sales of the public
lands, and to grant pre-emption rights,” approved on
the fourth day of September, one thousand eight hun-
dred and forty-one, shall be so construed as to suspend
only such portions of said act as precede said fifth section,
(relative to the distribution of the proceeds of the sales of
the public lands,) that being hereby declared to be the true
intent and meaning of said fifth section of the act afore-
said.
