An act to ascertain and fix the fees taxable in favor of the Attorney of the United
States for Missouri for services rendered in the Circuit Court of the United States
for the District of Missouri.
S 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and Representatives of the United States of America
in Congress assembled. That the following are hereby declared to be the fees claimable
by and taxable in favor of the U.S. Attorney for Missouri District, for services rendered
in the Circuit Court of the United States for that District. that is to say.
| 1o In all causes of a civil nature. | |
| For drafting & filing declaration at law, or bill in equity, Six Dollars. |
$6.00 |
| For arguing every demurrer to any pleading in any cause three Dollars |
$3.00 |
| For conducting every cause to judgment after trial on the merits, twelve Dollars |
$12.00 |
| For discontinuing any action with- out a trial of the merits, Six Dollars. |
$6.00. |
| For arguing any case presented to the Circuit Court on appeal from the District Court of Missouri, four Dollars |
$4.00. |
| 2o In criminal cases. | |
| For every indictment returned “a true bill” by the grand jury in attendance on the Circuit Court for Said District, thirty Dollars |
$30.00 |
| For prosecuting every indictment to judg- ment after trial by jury twenty five Dolls. |
$25.00 |
| For entering nolle prosequi to any indictment without trial by jury |
6.00 |
S 2. The above mentioned fees shall be taxable in all cases now pending in said Court
or hereafter to be brought therein. Provided that nothing in this act contained shall
be applica-

I, Joseph Gamble clerk of the Circuit Court of the United States for the District
of Missouri do certify that the compensation proposed by the annexed bill to the United
States Attorney for Missouri is the Same which he now receives by the allowance of
the Court, except that the fee now allowed for prosecuting an indictment is twelve
Dollars instead of twenty five as proposed by the said bill.
