Chap. LXXX. — An Act to change the Name of the Steamboat "Charles Downing," to the "Calhoun.'
Name of steamboat "Charles Downing" to be changed to the "Calhoun."
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America
in Congress assembled, That the collector of the port of Charleston, in the State of South Carolina, be,
and he hereby is, authorized to issue an enrolment and license for the steamboat now
called the "Charles Downing," in the name of the "Calhoun;" the owner thereof, William
A. Carson, paying the usual fees, and complying in all respects with the laws regulating
the granting of enrolments and licenses to vessels employed in the coasting trade;
said enrolment shall state, in addition to the usual description, that the former
name of said steamboat was the Charles Downing, and that it was changed by authority
of this act.
