BE IT ENACTED
By the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in
Congress Assembled.
That the claims of the legal representatives of William McFarland, deceased, to two hundred and fifty arpens of land, or such less quantity as may not have been confirmed or granted to any other person, held under the ancient settlement and cultivation of George Garig, otherwise called George Garan, situate in the St. Helena land district in Louisiana, be, and the same is hereby confirmed and relinquished to the said legal representatives of the said William McFarland, deceased: Provided, That this act shall not be so construed against the United States as to operate as a guaranty or representation of either quantity or title to any extent whatever: And provided further, That this confirmation shall not be construed to compromit any legal or equitable claim to said land, or any part thereof, held by any person or persons, under the said George Garig, or under any one holding under or through him, his heirs, or assigns, or legal representatives.
