BE IT ENACTED
By the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in
Congress Assembled.

That the Secretary of the Treasury is hereby directed
to pay, or cause to be paid, by the proper disbursing of-
ficer, the sum of one hundred dollars, ^(^ with interest thereon from the thirtieth of May, eighteen hundred and forty-seven^)^, to the said John B. Smith and Simeon Darden, for labor and expenses incurred by them in the pursuit and arrest of John Weaver, who was tried and convicted, in the district court of the United States for the middle district of Alabama, of the crime of stealing from the mail of the United States.
