BE IT ENACTED
By the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in
Congress Assembled.
That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, directed to pay to David Shepard, out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the value of his horse, which died whilst employed in conveying an express from Monterey to Victoria, in Mexico, in January, eighteen hundred and forty-seven: Provided, That said Shepard proves to the satisfaction of the accounting officers, that his horse was used in conveying said express for government purposes.
