A BILL
For the relief of the widow and orphan children of Colonel
William R. McKee.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he
is hereby, directed to pay, out of any moneys in the
treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of two thou-
sand dollars to the widow of Colonel William R. McKee,
for the use of herself and of the five orphan children of
said McKee; it being in payment for a horse killed in
battle, for other property lost in battle, or in consequence
of his being killed in the battle of Buena Vista, on the
twenty-third day of February, eighteen hundred and forty-
seven.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That, to each
of the said five orphan children of the said McKee, there
shall be, and hereby is, granted one quarter section of
land; the land to be located where, and in such manner as,
the President of the United States shall direct.
