Mr. French, from the Committee on the Judiciary, reported
the following bill:
A BILL
To amend the act, entitled “An act to raise for a limited time
an additional military force, and for other purposes,” ap-
proved February eleven, eighteen hundred and forty-
seven.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That the ninth section of the act, entitled “An
act to raise for a limited time an additional military force,
and for other purposes,” approved February the eleventh,
one thousand eight hundred and forty-seven, be, and the
same is hereby, extended to, and shall embrace, each non-
commissioner officer, musician, and private, enlisted, or to
be enlisted, in the regular army, or regularly mustered in
any volunteer company, and who has served, or shall

serve, in the war with Mexico, as specified in the said act,
and who, during his term of service, has been, or shall be,
commissioned or promoted as an officer in the army.
