the following bill:
A BILL
In amendment of “An act concerning naval pensions and the
navy pension fund,” approved June 30, 1834.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That “An act concerning naval pensions and
the navy pension fund,” approved June thirtieth, in the
year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty-four, be, and
the same is hereby, amended, so as to embrace engineers,
firemen and coal-heavers, in the navy of the United States;
and that the pensions of chief engineers, in case of disa-
bility, or of their widows, if the husbands shall die or shall
have died in the line of their duty, shall be the same that
lieutenants of the navy or their widows would be entitled
to, as the laws now are; that the pensions of first assis

tant engineers and their widows shall be the same as those
of lieutenants of marines and their widows; that their pen-
sions of second and third assistant engineers and their
widows shall be the same as those of forward officers and
their widows; and that the pensions of firemen and coal-
heavers and their widows shall be the same as those of
seamen and their widows, as the laws now are.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the pro-
visions of this act shall embrace and include all cases that
have happened since August thirty-first, eighteen hundred
and forty two.
