following bill:
A BILL
Making appropriations for certain marine hospitals therein
named.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre- sentatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums be, and the same are hereby, appropriated, to be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, and to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of the Treasury, for the completion of the marine hospitals now building, viz: At Pittsburg, ten thousand dollars; At Cleveland, ten thousand dollars; At Louisville, ten thousand dollars. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the fol- lowing sums be, and the same are hereby, appropriated, to be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise |

appropriated, to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of the Treasury, for the purpose of erecting marine hospitals, on the sites owned by the United States, at the following places, viz; At St. Louis, ten thousand dollars; At Natchez, ten thousand dollars; At Paducah, ten thousand dollars; Also, for the construction of a marine hospital, on such site as shall be selected by the Secretary of the Treasury, on the lands owned by the United States, at Chicago, ten thousand dollars. Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Presi- dent of the United States be, and he is hereby, authorized to select, and cause to be purchased, suitable sites for ma- rine hospitals, at Buffalo and Apalachicola, and that the sum of ten thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated to effect the purchase thereof, to be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, and that suitable plans and estimates be prepared under the direction of the Secretary of War, for the construc- tion of said hospitals, and submitted to Congress at the commencement of the next session thereof. |
