Railroad Company, and for other purposes.

reported the following bill:
A BILL
To grant portions of the public lands to the Mobile and Ohio
Railroad Company, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre- sentatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the right of way for the Mobile and Ohio railroad, to be run from the city of Mobile to the town of Columbus, in the State of Kentucky, be, and the same is hereby granted to the Mobile and Ohio Railroad Company, over all public lands that may lie in the track or route of the said railroad. And the privilege is also granted to the said company, and their successors, to cut and use all such timber on the public lands as the said company may deem necessary to the construction of the said railroad. |

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said company be, and they are hereby, authorized, by their agent or agents, to enter at the proper land offices, every other or alternate section of the public lands which may be traversed by the said railroad, and also every alternate section within the distance embraced by two sections on either side of the sections through which the said road may run, free of charge, and without the payment of any money, except the usual and customary fees to the proper officer of the land office where such entry may be made. Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That whenever said company shall complete any part, portion, or section of the said railroad, they shall be entitled to receive pa- tents for every alternate section as aforesaid, as far as the said road shall be so completed. |
