BE IT ENACTED
By the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress Assembled.
That the School Commissioners or other authority of Townships eighteen N. of Ranges one and two, W. of the fourth principal meridian of the State of Illinois, empowered to select school Land, be and they are hereby, authorized to select not exceeding one hundred and sixty acres of land for each of said Townships from any lands open to private entry within the Land District within which said Townships are situated, to be set apart and used for the support of schools within said Townships, in the same manner as the sixteenth Section is now set apart by law and not otherwise; Provided; That said selections shall be made, and the Register of the District Land Office notified thereof, within one year from the passage of this Act: and provided further, that said Commissioners or other authority as above empowered shall, at or before the time of notifying the Register of said selection, file a relinquishment of the land to which said Townships would be entitled for the support of schools under the act of May twenty eighteen hundred and twenty-six.
