For the relief of Elliot Smith and Nathan Farnsworth.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That the Secretary of War be directed to pay
Elliot Smith and Nathan Farnsworth such sum as he may
find them entitled to receive, in equity, for their losses and
services in saving the United States troops and stores from
the ship Charles Wharton, when stranded upon the bar at
Tampa Bay in a severe gale, about the twentieth of De-
cember, eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, out of any
money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
