Mr. Phelps, from the Committee on Patents and the Patent Office, reported the following bill; which was read, and passed to a second reading.
A BILL
For the relief of the heirs ^legal representatives^ of the late Uri Emmons.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That whereas ^the^ letters patent were granted, for the term of fourteen years to the late Uri Emmons, a citizen of the United States, dated the twenty-fifth day of April, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine, for a new and useful improvement in the mode of planing floor plank, and grooving, tonguing, and straightening the same, plaining boards, straightening and planing square timber, &c., by machinery, at one opera- tion, called the cylindrical planing machine, and which said patent expired on the twenty-fifty day of April, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and forty-three, the same, or such portion thereof as may be designated by the executor of the said Uri Emmons, be, and ^the same^ is hereby, ^renewed^ revived and extended for the term of fourteen years from and after the passage of this act. And the Commissioner of Patents is hereby di- rected to make a certificate of such ^renewal^ revival and extension, in |

executor, and to append an authenticat- ed copy thereof to the original, or to an exemplification of the original letters patent, whenever the same shall be re- quested by the said ^legal representatives or their^ executor or his assigns. |
