following bill:
A BILL
To provide for the settlement of the claim of Henry Leef and
John McKee.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre- sentatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to cause the claim of Henry Leef and John McKee to be examined by the proper accounting officers of the treasury; and that there be allowed and paid to the said Henry Leef and John McKee, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the amount of actual loss which may be shown to the satisfaction of the Secretary of the Treasury |

to have been sustained by Henry Leef and John McKee, in consequence of the acts of Alexander H. Tyler, late consul of the United States at the port of Bahia, in detain- ing the vessel of the said Henry Leef, in the year one thou- sand eight hundred and forty-eight, and causing her to be sent to the United States. |
