following bill:
A BILL
For the relief of George G. Bishop and the legal
representatives of John Arnold, deceased.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That the letters of patent granted to the late John
Arnold, a citizen of the United States, dated the fifteenth
day of July, in the year one thousand eight hundred and
twenty-nine, for a new and useful improvement in the ma-
chine for forming the web of cloth, of wool, hair, or other
suitable substance, without spinning or weaving. And
also that the letters patent granted to the said late John
Arnold and George G. Bishop, a citizen of the United

States, dated the twentieth day of October, in the year one
thousand eight hundred and thirty-six, for a new and use-
ful improvement in the machine for forming the web of
cloth, of wool, hair, or other suitable substance, without
spinning or weaving, be, and the same are hereby, re-
newed, revived, and extended for the term of fourteen
years from and after the passage of this act; and the
Commissioner of Patents is hereby directed to renew, re-
vive, and extend the said patents by making a certificate
on each of said patents, or upon certified copies thereof,
of such extension in the name of such legal representa-
tives and the said George G. Bishop; and the said com-
missioner is hereby directed to cause the same to be en-
tered on record in the Patent Office; and the said patents
so renewed and extended shall have the same effect in
law as if originally granted for terms extending to the end
of the term to which they are extended by this act, in the
form herein provided: Provided, That such renewal and
extension shall enure to the use and benefit of the said
legal representatives of the said John Arnold, deceased,
and the said George G. Bishop, their executors and ad-
ministrators, and to no other persons whomsoever, except
that a bona fide assignee of the inventions patented,
or a bona fide assignee of the patent right, by virtue of
any assignment from the patentees heretofore made; as

also all persons, their heirs, executors, or administrators,
who shall, after the expiration, and before the renewal of
the said first mentioned patent, have bona fide put in use
the invention secured by the said first mentioned patent,
shall have the benefit of this act upon just, reasonable, and
equitable terms, according to his or their interest therein.
And if said legal representatives of John Arnold, deceased,
and the said George G. Bishop, their executors or ad-
ministrators, cannot agree with such assignees or other
persons herein designated, the terms shall be ascertained
and determined by the circuit court of the United States,
in the district where such assignee or other persons reside,
to be decreed upon a bill to be filed by such assignee, or
other persons, for that purpose: And provided, further,
That no assignee or other person shall have the benefit
of this act, unless he or they shall, within ninety days from
the date of its passage, agree with the said legal repre-
sentatives, and the said George G. Bishop, their executors,
and administrators, as to the considerations upon which
he or they are to have it; or file a bill in the circuit court
aforesaid, in order that the amount to be paid therefor, and
the terms of such payment, may be decreed in conformity
to the intent and meaning of this act.
