following bill:
A BILL
Authorizing a patent to be issued to William Green, junior.

Whereas, William Green, junior, by his memorial
sets forth that he has, after many years’ experiment, ob-
tained a method of manufacturing sheet iron, known in
trade as Russia sheet iron, which process he believes to
be the same as that now used in secret in Russia, but
which has not been known or used in this country, or
published or patented in any foreign country, therefore
Be in enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That the said William Green, junior, be, and
he is hereby, authorized to apply for letters patent for
said improvements, and the Commissioner of Patents is

hereby authorized to issue them to him, without being
required to make oath or affirmation, as provided in the
sixth section of the act approved fourth July, eighteen
hundred and thirty-six, entitled “An act to promote the
progress of the useful arts, and to repeal all other acts and
parts of acts heretofore made for the purpose;” and, in-
stead thereof, to make oath that he verily believes that the
improvement for which he asks letters patent was never
known or used in this country, or patented or published in
any printed publication in this or any foreign country
prior to the passage of this bill.
