passed to a second reading.
A BILL
Further to carry into effect the provisions and stipulations of the ninth article of the Florida treaty, with respect to certain losses of Spanish subjects in West Florida.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That the Secretary of the Treasury be author-
ized and directed to examine and supervise the adjudica-
tions and awards of the judge of the superior court for
West Florida, made in eighteen hundred and twenty-three,
eighteen hundred and twenty-four, and eighteen hundred
and twenty-five, upon the claims of losses presented by
Spanish subjects under the act of third of March, eighteen
hundred and twenty-three, entitled “An act to carry into
effect the ninth article of the treaty concluded between the
United States and Spain the twenty-second day of Feb-
ruary, one thousand eight hundred and nineteen,” and to
revise the decisions of former Secretaries of the Treasury
theron; and to pay to the respective claimants of such

claims, for losses occasioned by the operations of the
American forces in Florida in eighteen hundred and four-
teen, or at any time prior to the twenty-second day of
February, eighteen hundred and nineteen, (as have not
been paid,) such amount as, after an examination of said
adjudications and awards, he shall deem just and equitable,
out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appripriated.
