Mr. Yulee, from the Committee on Private Land Claims, reported the following
bill: which was read, and passed to a second reading.
A BILL
For the relief of William Marvin, in confirming the title to a
tract of land in Florida, granted by the Spanish government
to Bernardo Segui, on the twentieth of December, eighteen
hundred and fifteen.

13 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled, That the United States hereby release and con-
firm unto William Marvin, or to whoever may be the law-
ful claimant, a certain tract of land, containing seven thou-
sand acres, lying in the State of Florida, on the east side
of the river St. John’s, between the place called Dunn’s
Lake and that known as Horse Landing, including the
place called Buffalo Bluff, as specified in the memorial
of Bernardo Segui to the Spanish governor Esfrado, and in
the grant of the governor thereon. That the said lands be
surveyed by or under the direction of the surveyor of the
United States in East Florida, and, in making such survey,

26 the surveyor shall run out of the same in accordance with the
calls in the before named memorial and grant, and shall
make his report to the General Land Office of the United
States, accompanied by a map or plat of the said lands,
and a survey bill of the same; which map or plat and sur-
vey bill shall show how and when the lines of the said
tract, thus surveyed, connect or intersect with the lines of
the government surveys, and shall, if said lands are upon
surveyed government lands, show upon what township,
range, and section the same are situated. The survey so
made shall be laid upon the general plans of surveys in
East Florida, and upon it a patent issued to the said Wil-
Marvin.
