BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America
in Congress assembled,
THATthe proper accounting officers of the Treasury be, and they are hereby, authorized
and required to settle and adjust the claims of Henry Washington, late a deputy surveyor
of the public lands in Florida, for damages sustained by him on account of the abrogation,
by the surveyor general of the district of Florida, of a contract, made by him on
the twenty-sixth of July, eighteen hundred and forty-five, to make certain surveys
of public lands in said district; and such sum or sums of money, if any, as shall
be found due to said Washington on account of loss or damage sustained in consequence
of the abrogation of said contract, and directly resulting therefrom, shall be paid
out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.–^Provided however &c &c^
