BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
THATthe proper accounting officers of the Treasury be authorized and directed to audit and settle the accounts of persons who have, ^ke out the line- tier is to time, & in “heretofore”^^[^Since the fourth of August, eighteen hundred and forty two ^]^^heretofore^ performed the duties of Pursers or Forward Warrant Officers in vessels belonging to the Navy, under temporary or acting appointments, and to allow to such persons the pay and emoluments of the grades in which the have respectively acted, to be paid out of any ^strike out the viso.)^money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated Provided, that no such case shall be settled without the previous approval of the Secretary of the Navy ^[^ and provided, also, that this act shall be considered as applying only to the accounts or claims of acting pursers, James Tilton, James A. Fawns, J. O. Means, W. S. Hollins, John H. Poor, and of the following acting Warrant Officers to W. Collins, W. Bergen, J. Ferguson, W. Taylor, A. E. York, J. R. Fox, C. C. Buntling, A. Flomerfelt, J. Conley, and J. Walker.^]^
