1 BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representa-
2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
3 THATthe Secretary of State be, and he is hereby, directed
4 to examine, according to principles of equity and justice,
5 the claim of Joseph De la Francia for advances made,
6 for the use and benefit of the United States, prior to and
7 since the taking ^[ of that &c^possession of the said portion of the late
8 province of West Florida^]^ by the United States; and that such
sum of money as he may find to be justly due to the said
De la Francia be paid to him, or his legal representatives,
out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
