BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
THATthe Fourth Auditor of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and required to adjust and settle the claim of Columbus Alexander and Theodore Barnard, of the city of Washington, under a contract entered into by them with the honorable A. P. Upshur, Secretary of the Navy, in behalf of himself and his successors in office, for the execution of all the book and letter-press printing that might be required by the Navy Department, and its several bureaus, during the year commencing on the first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and forty three, and ending on the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and forty four, on principles of equity and justice, and ascertain the amount justly and equitably due and owing to the said Alexander and Barnard; and that the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and required to cause the amount so ascertained to be justly and equitably due and owing to the said Columbus Alexander and Theodore Barnard to be paid to them out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
