BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
THATthe President of the United States is hereby authorized to appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, five naval surgeons, and the same number of assistant surgeons, in addition to the number of those grades now allowed by law; and that this increased number of medical officers may be continued in the naval service until otherwise directed by law.
