BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
THATthe proper officers of the Treasury are hereby directed to settle the accounts of said Taylor, upon principles of justice and equity, charging him with such moneys as he actually received from James T. Pollock, late receiver of public moneys at Crawfordsville, Indiana, upon the distress warrant in his hands as marshal, or on account of said Pollock, and allowing him his fees and costs on said warrant, and reasonable compensation for his trouble and services in said case, and upon payment of any balance so found due the United States, to dis-continue all proceedings against said Taylor or his securities, and if a balance is so found due said Taylor, to pay the same out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated; and in the mean time, the Solicitor of the Treasury may, in his dis-cretion, suspend proceedings against said Taylor and his securities on account of said case.
