BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
THATthe Secretary of War allow and pay to James M. Scantland fifty dollars per month during his natural life, in lieu of the pension now allowed him by law, to commence on the eighteenth, December, eighteen hundred and forty eight.
