Whereas, It appears that William R. Campbell, George Myers, and John Kincart, did, on the fourth day of October, eighteen hundred and forty seven, enlist, during the war with Mexico, in the company of Captain Leonidas Metcalfe, of the third regiment Kentucky volunteers, commanded by Colonel M. V. Thompson, and that they continued to serve until the near approach of peace, when they were respectively discharged in Mexico, on account of their very advanced ages, when it was confidently believed that no other battle would be fought, therefore
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the said William R. Campbell, George Myers, and John Kincart, shall be, and they are hereby, entitled, each of them, to receive a land warrant for one hundred and sixty acres, or, at their option, respectively, to receive a treasury scrip for one hundred dollars, in pursuance of the provisions of the ninth section of an act entitled “An act to raise, for a limited time, an additional military force, and for other purposes,” approved February eleventh, eighteen hundred and forty seven, as though the said persons named had served to the close of the war, and had received an honorable discharge for such services.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said William R. Campbell, George Myers, and John Kincart, shall also be entitled to receive the three months extra pay, as though they had been in actual service during the war, in pursuance of the provisions of the fifth section of an act entitled “An act to amend an act entitled an act supplemental to an act entitled an act providing for the prosecution of the existing war between the United States and the republic of Mexico, and for other purposes,” approved July nineteenth, eighteen hundred and forty eight.
