BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
THATthe Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, required to pay to Cadwalader Wallace in land scrip to be issues to said Wallace, in convenient quantities, which shall be receivable in payment for any public Lands for sale by the government, at public auction, or by private entry, the sum of seventy five thousand five hundred and fifty one dollars in full compensation to said Cadwalader Wallace for forty one thousand and eighty two acres of land, located by said Wallace by virtue of Virginia military land warrants, in the Virginia military district, in the State of Ohio, and in that part of said district lying between Ludlow’s and Roberts’s lines in said district: Provided, That before the payment of said sum of money to said Wallace, the Secretary of the Treasury shall be satisfied that said lands have been legally appropriated by virtue of valid warrants, and surveyed according to law: And provided, also, That said Wallace shall release all his right, title, interest, and claim whatsoever to said lands to the United States, for the use of the persons holding said lands by purchase from the United States.
