BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
THAT the act entitled “An act explanatory of the treaty made with the Chippewa Indians at Saginaw, twenty third of January, eighteen hundred and thirty eight,” approved June seventeenth, eighteen hundred and forty four, be, and the same are hereby, repealed; and that, from and after the passage of this act, all the lands purchased by the United States from the Saginaw tribe of Chippewa Indians, by the treaty of the fourteenth of January, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-seven, and remaining unsold, shall be offered for sale, and sold as other public lands, at the land offices of the proper districts as soon as practicable: Provided That this act shall not be construed so as to deprive said Indians of any surplus of the proceeds of said lands, if any should exist, after re-imbursing the United States the several sums set apart to be paid out of the fund thus created, and which have been, or may hereafter be, paid, or are justly chargeable to said fund.
