BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America
in Congress assembled,
THATthe Secretary of the Treasury ascertain the amount of damages sustained by Manuel
X. Harmony, in consequence of the seizure and use of his mules and wagons, and other
property by command of Colonel Doniphan, while proceeding from the city of Santa Fe
to the city of Chihuahua, in the republic of Mexico, and ordering the men in the employment
of said Harmony into the service of the United States; and, on ascertaining the amount
of said loss and damages, to cause the same to be paid to the said Harmony, out of
any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.–
