Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of
the United States of America in Congress assembled
, That
there be paid to the purchasers, or to the legal representatives of
the purchasers, of one hundred and twenty-eight tracts of land
in township one south, range seven east, in the State of Michi-
gan, (the original surveys, returns, plats, and field-notes whereof
have been found by the surveyor general, upon a resurvey, to have
been erroneous, deceptive, and untrue,) the several sums for de-
ficiencies and damages found or to be found due to them re-
spectively, in virtue of the provisions of the resolution entitled
“A resolution relative to errors and defective returns in certain
surveys, plats, and field-notes,” approved August tenth, eighteen
hundred and forty-six—to be paid by the Secretary of the Treas-
ury, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropria-
ted, according to such regulations as he shall prescribe: Provi-
ded
, That said sums so to be paid shall not in the aggregate ex-
ceed the amount of twelve thousand dollars.
