To refund money for expenses incurred, subsistence or transportation furnished, and money advanced by individual citizens of the United States, for the use of the volunteers before or after being mustered into the service of the United States.

tives of the United States of America in Congress assem-
bled, That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby,
authorized and required to cause to be refunded to indi-
viduals^,^ ^[~~...~~?]^ citizens of the United States, the amount of ex-
penses incurred by them in organizing, subsisting, or trans- ^ raising, 3^d ^
porting volunteers previous to their being mustered and
received into the service of the United States for the present

of any regiment, battalion, or company, for the purpose

appear that said expenses incurred, subsistence, or trans-

and proper for the troops aforesaid; and that the same be
refunded out of any money in the treasury not otherwise
appropriated.
