Mr. Cabell, from the Committee on Naval Affairs, reported the following joint resolution:
A JOINT RESOLUTION
Authorizing the accounting officers of the treasury, charged with the settlement of the accounts of the navy, to settle and pay the expenses of the United States ship Macedonian on her recent voyage to Ireland and Scotland.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Represen-
tatives of the United States of America in Congress
assembled
, That the accounting officers of the treasury,
charged with the settlement of the accounts of the navy,
be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed, under the
direction of the Secretary of the Navy, to settle, upon
equitable and just principles, the amount paid by George
C. DeKay for the expenses of the United States frigate
Macedonian while under his command, on her late voyage
to and from Ireland and Scotland, exclusive of any charge

for services as her commander, which he declines receiving,
and deducting from the disbursements of the said George
C. De Kay, the amount received by him for freight and
duties on the ballast of the said ship on her return voyage.
Resolved, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and
he is hereby, authorized to pay to the said George C. De
Kay the amount that may be ascertained to be due him on
account of his disbursements for the said ship Macedon-
nian, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise ap-
propriated.
