THATthe proper accounting officers of the Treasury be, and they are hereby, authorized
and required to make a just and fair ^statement^ ^[^settlement^]^ of the claims of the Cherokee nation of Indians, according to the principles established
by the Treaty of August, eighteen hundred and forty six, between the United States
and said Indians; and that ^they^ ^[^he^]^ report the same to the next session of Congress.
