1 Resolved by the Senate and House of Representa-
2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
3 THATthe President of the United States be
4 and he is hereby authorized and requested
5 to cause to be delivered to the Jackson
6 Monument Committee in the City of Wash=
7 ington the Brass Guns and Mortars cap=
8 tured by General Andrew Jackson at
9 Pensacola and referred to in a statement
10 of the Chief of the Ordnance Office dated
11 fourteenth April eighteen hundred and
12 forty six, to be used by the said com=
13 mittee as material for the construction
14 of the Monument to that distinguished
15 patriot, ^[^together with such other pieces
16 of brass ordnance, reported “unserviceable”,
17 as the chief of the ordnance office may
18 designate as sufficient for the purposes
19 of the said Committee:^]^ and the said
Committee is hereby authorized to erect
the said Monument upon such por=
tion of the public grounds in the City
of Washington as may be designated
for that purpose by the President of
the United States.^]^
