Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
THATso much of an act entitled “An act making appropriations for the civil and diplomatic expenses of government for the year ending the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and forty nine, and for other purposes, as relates to the compensation to be allowed persons appointed by the Electors of any State, to deliver to the President of the Senate a list of the votes for President and Vice President, be and the same is hereby repealed, and that the messengers appointed under the operation of the clause hereby repealed who bore or may hereafter deliver the votes cast in the Presidential Election of eighteen hundred and forty-eight shall be entitled to demand and receive the same amount that they would have been entitled to, had the act approved August twelfth, one thousand eight, hundred and forty eight not passed.
