Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America
in Congress assembled,
THATthe provisions of bounty land and extra pay, as they have been granted to enlisted
men who have served in the war with Mexico, shall in like manner and under like limitations
be granted to such as have entered the service as “substitutes”, the substitution
having been made by competent authority, and the requirements of the original engagement
fulfilled: Provided, That two warrants shall in no case be granted to the substitute
and to the soldier for whom he is a substitute.
