An act to amend an act concerning the Public Revenue1 approved February 27th 1833.

Section 1st Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois Represented in the General Assembly That hereafter it shall be lawful for any minor ^heirs^ under the age of Twenty one years of age, by themselves or guardian, or any other person over the age of Twenty one years; who are within the time limited by the act of the Legislature for redeeming; Lands Sold for Taxes either by the Auditor of Public accounts or by the Clerk of any County Commissioners Court in this State, to make proof of such minority ^and heirship^ or of the time when such owner of Land did become of Lawful age, before any Circuit Court or Court of Probate of this state or before any Court of Record of any other state: and when such Proof authenticated under the seal of such court shall be Presented to the auditor of Public accounts or to the Clerk of any County Commissioners Court as the case may be; said auditor or clerk as the case may be, Shall allow such Persons to redeem any Lands which have been or may here after be sold for Taxes in pursuance of the Law of this state.3
Sec[Section] 2d So much of the eleventh section4 of the act to which this is an amendment as requires a Certificate that it appears on5 record that such Person or Persons is or are the Legal Heirs of the former owner of the Tract of Land and that such owner died before such Tract of Land was sold for Taxes, be and the same is hereby repealed.
Sec 3 When any person has heretofore or shall here after become the owner of any Tract of

Land Which Shall have been sold for Taxes Either by inheritance or otherwise And Shall desire to redeem such Land, according to the existing Laws authorizeing redemption: it shall be sufficient to make proof, in the manner prescribed in the first section of this act That such Land, at the time when the same was sold for Taxes or, within Two years thereafter was the Property of Minors under the age of Twenty one years, And upon such proof the auditor or clerk, as the case may be shall allow a redemption on the same manner that a redemption would have been allowed if Proof had been made according to the Laws now in force all acts and Parts of acts comeing within the perview and meaning of this act be and the same are hereby Repealed

2Calvin Tunnel introduced HB 38 in the House of Representatives on December 17, 1834. On December 18, the House referred it to the Committee on Finance. The Committee on Finance reported back the bill on February 5, 1835, without amendment, recommending its passage. The House referred the bill to the Committee on the Judiciary. The Committee on the Judiciary reported back the bill on February 6 with sundry amendments, in which the House concurred. The House passed the bill as amended on February 7. On February 10, the Senate referred the bill to the Committee on the Judiciary. The Committee on the Judiciary did not report back the bill before the end of the session.
