Whereas a majority of the quallified voters of the County of Randolph have petitioned the present General assembly, to permanently locate the Seat of Justice for said county, on the north half of Section 30, in township five south of Range 6 west, and whereas
the quallified voters aforesaid, have also complied with the requisitions of the law in this case
required,
Sec[Section] 1st
Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General assembly, That all such acts or parts of acts as locate the Seat of Justice of Randolph county at Kaskaskia be and the same are hereby Repealed, from and after the first day of January 1836.
Sec 2.
That for the purpose of permanently locating the Seat of Justice in and for said county of Randolph, James S. Guthrie, John G. Nelson, and James Gillespie, the county commissioners of the said county of Randolph, shall meet at the House of Robert Miller, in in said county, on the second Monday in March next, or within ten days thereafter, and after being duly sworn by some Justice of the ^peace^ of said county, faithfully and impartially to take into view the general interest of the people, and the eligibility of the place, shall carefully examine, determine on, and designate the place for the permanent Seat of Justice for the county aforesaid, on the most eligible and best place on the north half of Section 30 in Township 5 south of Range 6 west in said county. provided, the proprietor or proprietors of the land shall give and convey by Deed of General warranty for the

purpose of erecting public buildings, a quantity of land in a square form, or not
more than twice as long as wide, not less than thirty acres, but should the proprietor
or proprietors, neglect or refuse to make the donation aforesaid, then and in that
case, said commissioners shall fix said county seat, on any adjoining land, which
shall not be more than one half mile from said half section above mentioned by the
proprietor or proprietors making a similar [amt?]
Section 3. The commissioners aforesaid, shall so soon as they decide, on the place,
make a report thereof in writing under their hands and seals, describing particularly
the quarter, or fractional Section Range and Township, on which they have located
the same together with the name they may have given it, and the said commissioners
shall cause the said report to be entered upon the records of the county commissioners court of said county.
Sec 4. and the place so selected by the said commissioners shall be and remain the permanent
Seat of Justice of Randolph County, from and after the first day of January 1836, and shall be called and known by such
name as shall be give it, by said commissioners. The land donated shall be laid out
into lots and sold by the county commissioners of said county under their Spicial order and direction, and to the best advantage, except such lots as shall be selected
by said commissioners for public Buildings, and the procedes of the sales of lots, shall be applied to the erection of public buildings and such
other purposes as the county-commissioners shall

direct.
Section 5.
good and Sufficiant Deeds shall be made to purchasers of lots, by the county-commissioners of said County, whenever full and sufficiant payment have been made for the same.
Sec 6, The commissioners aforesaid shall receive as a compensation for their services
the sum of one dollar and fifty cents per day, for each day they shall be nessarily employed in locating the same.
