Sec.[Section] 1st Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois Represented in the General assembly, That James Cox [,]John Hamrick of Union County[,] and Hugh Bugg, of Jackson County are hereby appointed commissioners to view, mark[,] and Locate a Road from a point on the Mississippi River known as Freeman’s Ferry in Union County, thence to the mouth of Muddy River at “Herst’s Ferry” on Said River thence along the margin of said River on the most suitable ground to the point where the present Road Leaves said River, thence to the Residence of Hugh Bugg[’]s in Jackson County, thence to Isaac Wilson^’s^, thence on the most suitable ground to James Harreld’s.
Sec. 2. Said Commissioners or a majority of them, [shall meet?] [?] of march next or as soon thereafter as practicable and first being duly sworn before
some Justice of the Peace faithfully to perform the duties required by this act shall
proceed to view, mark[,] and Locate said Road from point to point, taking into consideration the Public, convenience[,] utility[,] and Economy, so as to make a permanant Road.
Sec. 3. Said commissioners shall on or before the first Monday in June next make a report
of their proceedings to the county commissioners courts of the several Counties through which said road shall pass, signed by each of said
commissioners, with the number of days they were employed in Locating said road, and
said commissioners shall [receive] one dollar & [fifty?] cents per day for each day they may be necessarially [employed?] in Locating said Road to be paid out of the county Treasury of the several counties
through which said Road may pass.

Sec. 4. When the said Road shall [?] Located and the Reports filed as [?] shall be and is hereby declared a [State road?] and shall be opened thirty feet [wide across?] Kept in repair as other state Roads [?] State.
This act to take Effect [from and] after its passage.
