Section 1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly: that so much of the second Section of the Act concerning the public revenue, Approved
February 27th 1833. as provides for the publication of the delinquent non resident lists of lands
offered for sale for the non payment of taxes, and the transcript, and notice thereof
sixty days before the day of sale, be repealed, and that it shall be deemed lawful
and sufficient in all cases where such lists, have heretofore been published, or shall
be published after the passage of this Act. if there shall be thirty days, between
the date of the publication as aforesaid and the day of sale on the first Monday in
the month of March following: Provided, that the provisions of this Act shall expire
in six months from the date of it’s passage; and the said second section of the above recited Act hereby repealed shall
be thereafter revived and continued in force, and shall regulate all publications
to be made as aforesaid from and after the date of it’s revival.2

1John S. Hacker introduced SB 85, originally titled “A Bill Changing Certain Appropriations,” in
the Senate on January 2, 1836. On January 9, the Senate referred the bill to a select committee.
On January 11, the select committee reported back the bill with amendments, which
the Senate approved. On January 12, the Senate passed the bill as amended, and then
changed the title to “A Bill concerning the Advertisement of Land Sold for Taxes.”
On January 15, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On January 16, the Council of Revision approved the bill, but the act did not become law.
