AN ACT concerning the transcribing certain Records.
1Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the county commissioners’ courts, of any of the counties in the Military Tract, when they shall appoint a commissioner to transcribe certain records, as provided
by an act to provide for transcribing certain records therein named, approved February
12th, 1836, are hereby authorised and empowered to allow said commissioners, such reasonable compensation, in addi-

tion to the compensation authorised by the above recited act, not exceeding seventy-five cents for each deed, or title
paper, so transcribed, as they may deem proper.

1John S. Hacker introduced SB 84, originally titled “A Bill to Reduce the Fees in relation to Marriage Licenses,”
in the Senate on January 2, 1836. On January 9, the Senate referred the bill to the Committee on
Finance. On January 12, the Committee on Finance reported back the bill with an amendment,
which the Senate approved. On January 14, the Senate passed the bill as amended, and
afterward changed the title to “A Bill concerning the Transcribing Certain Records.”
On January 16, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On January 18, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
