AN ACT to change the name of Free Frank.
1Name changed to Frank McWortle

Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That the name of Free Frank, of the county of Pike and State of Illinois, be and is hereby changed to that of Frank McWorter, by which latter name he shall hereafter be called and known, and sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, purchase and convey both real and personal
property in said last mentioned name, and the children of said Free Frank shall hereafter take the name of their father, as changed and provided for by this
act.
Sec. 2. This act to be in force from and after its passage.

1On December 17, 1836, Stephen A. Douglas (Douglass) introduced HB 3 in the House of Representatives. On December 31, the House passed the bill. On January 2, 1837, the select committee
applied an amendment and on January 9, the Senate approved the bill. On January 13, the House approved the amendments and passed the
bill. On January 19, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
