Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois Represented in the General Assembly That from and after the passage of this act, the Judge of any Circuit Court in this State, shall whenever the States Attorney or Attorney General for any such Circiut shall be absent from such Circuit Court, or unable from any cause to discharge the duties of said Office of States Attorney, have power to appoint some competent person to discharge such duties; And the certificate of the Clerk of such Court or Judge of the Circuit under seal, shall be given to such person so appointed, Stating the number of days during which Such person has been employed in the discharge of said duties, and the number of persons convicted, if any, while such appointment was in existence
Sec 2. The Auditor of Public accounts, on such certificate as aforesaid being presented to him shall issue his warrant in favor of such person so appointed, for a sum not exceeding three dollars per day, for each day so occupied in the discharge of such duties as aforesaid, which sum shall be deducted from the Salary of the Circuit Attorney for the for the Circuit in which Such duties had been performed And Such persons shall be allowed for each conviction certified to as aforesaid, such Sum as is by law allowed to Circuit Attornies in such cases
