Sec[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly; That Andrew Scott of Shelby County, Charles Easton of Coles County, and James Parmer of Vermillion County be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out, and mark a road from Shelbyville in Shelby County on the nearest and most eligible route to the town of Danville in Vermillion County.
Sec 2. The said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall meet in the Town of Shelbyville on the first monday in the month of April next, or within twenty days thereafter, who after being duly sworn before some justice of the peace in said county, faithfully to discharge the duties enjoined on them by the provisions of this act, shall proceed to mark to lay out and survey a road from the said town of Shelbyville to the town ^of^ Danville on the nearest and most eligble route having in view the situation of the country and the advantages that would result to the population of the country through which said road will pass
Sec 3. The said commissioners, after the said road shall be located, shall cause true and accurate maps, and surveys to be made out, and deposit a copy of the Same, together with a report of their proceedings in the Clerks office of the County Commissioners Court of th[e]

respective Counties through which said r[oad] may pass, or be located.
Sec 4. The Said Commissioners shall have power to employ all necessary Surveyors, and Chain Carriers to enable them to perform the duties enjoined on them by this act.
Sec 5. The said road when laid out as aforesaid shall be deemed and considered a State road, and it is hereby made the duty of the county commissioners’ courts of the respective counties through which the said road may pass, to cause the said road to be opened and kept in repair
Sec 6. The said Commissioners appointed under the provisions of this act together with the chain carriers and Surveyors, shall receive out of the county Treasuries of the respective counties, through which said road may pass, such reasonable compensation for their services as may be deemed just and equitable by the county commissioners’ Courts.
