AN ACT to amend an act entitled “an act for the appointment of Notaries Public,” approved December 30th, 1828.

Governor by and with advice and consent of Senate to appoint two notaries in Chicago.
Term of service
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That it shall be the duty of the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to appoint in the town of Chicago, county of Cook, two additional notaries public, whose duties and term of service shall be the same as are now

regulated by the act to which this is an amendment, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.2

1Peter Pruyne introduced SB 18 in the Senate on December 22, 1836. The Senate passed the bill without amendment on December 24. On December 29, the House of Representatives referred the bill to a select committee. The select committee reported back the bill with amendments on December 30, and the House approved the amendments. The House passed the bill as amended on December 31. On January 5, 1837, the Senate concurred in the amendments of the House. On January 16, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law. Illinois House Journal. 1836. 10th G.
